witness the blooming of a potential romance and has us captivated with the suspense and thrill as titillating details unfold….

A Madaris Bride for Christmas by Brenda Jackson is an intriguing read from the onset.  It captures ones attention and has you wondering what’s next.  Great Grandma Laverne has been “match making” with her grandchildren and now great grandchildren.  At around 95 years of age, she is determined to see a wedding for each of them and she’s getting it done.  Well some of her lineage, won’t accept that and are determined to best her by picking and marrying their choice.  Well Lee Madaris is one of them and he sets out to do just that after a woman he sees from his balcony catches his eye and full attention.  Lee is the co-owner of an illustrious hotel in Las Vegas, which is the second one for him and his partner. His goal is to have the grandest hotel on the strip and he is doing just that.

Carly Briggs jumps at a chance to work as a Chef at one of the grandest hotels on the Las Vegas strip, especially after believing she witnessed a crime in Miami. For a treat to herself, she books a room at the hotel for one night and Lee happens to see her from a distance, then up close and personal. Later, he gets an idea and sets out to put it in motion if his hotel’s gorgeous new chef will agree to a marriage of convenience.  Will she agree….hmmmm? All this is further complicated when per Brenda Jackson “the danger that made Carly flee Miami is about to land at their door.” So Carly and Lee must decide who to trust, when to let go—and whether a love they never anticipated is strong enough to pass the ultimate test.”

Mrs. Jackson penned a tale that allows us to witness the blooming of a potential romance and has us captivated with the suspense and thrill as titillating details unfold.  This novel was a great 5 stars read that I thoroughly enjoyed. CONGRATULATIONS BRENDA JACKSON ON YOUR 100th Novel!!

Very intriguing and engaging novel, great tale of friendship!

I really enjoyed This Can’t Be Life by Shakara Cannon.  Ms. Cannon took us on a ride with three friends that detailed the roads and journeys that they traveled.  This timely and engaging tale held me captive to the point where I was thinking of the characters even when I wasn’t engrossed in the book, this speaks volumes.  As the stories unfolded, I found myself wanting to get the next part, which is why I stated, it held you captive.  🙂

This Can’t Be Life is a novel based around three best friends that is told from the point of view of the characters, which I enjoy tremendously, as you are drawn more into the story.  I adore the relationship of these best friends, Simone, Stacey and Talise.  We get to visit their lives, their journeys, the roads they traveled to get to their lives of today and a tiny glimpse of the future.  Being the successful, affluent individuals that they are, the paths they travel takes them into the world of many other successful, affluent people…. this world usually breeds those that get whatever they want due to their status and money and this time was no different.

I commend Shakara for writing a novel full of drama, suspense, thrill and love.  I sincerely hope that there will be a part two as I am fully titillated with curiosity as to how things will turn out and this is doing a number on me.  I finished the book two days ago and the stories are still running full speed through my mind.  This is/was a very good book and I give it 4.5 stars!!   January 26, 2012

Very intriguing and interesting story….you have family, romance, thrill, drama and suspense.

Very intriguing and interesting story….you have family, romance, thrill, drama and suspense. This book is centered around the Livingston family.  There are twin brothers and one of their sons that run the family business that was established by their father.  On top of this well established family business this family has a long, rich history that is a noted legacy for the men….fidelity and long marriages.

As you read, you are hurled into the lives of these people as individuals, couples, families and the Family while you are hanging on to every word.  The brothers are Ace and Adam and the sons that work with the family business are Malcolm and Toussaint, the offspring of Adam.  Ace is married to Diane and they have two offspring that are not involved is the family business.  Adam is married to Candace and he co-chairs the business along side his brother with his sons as integral players in the business successes. and nephews.  As the story unfolds we are wrapped up in the lives of the single brother, Toussaint, that has women falling all over him as an eligible bachelor and his brother the family man that finds himself unfulfilled and ready to stake his own spot in the business world where he is the success.  As we progress through the book we witness their trials, tribulation, choices and the results of those choices with family always looming in the forefront.

Ms. Lovely did a great job expelling a story line that is engaging, exciting and an easy read.  She tells us of the individual lives and the Family with fluidity and thoroughness.  I am eagerly awaiting the next installation, Mind Your Own Business which comes out September 2011.

I give this book 5 stars….enjoy, I surely did!   March 19, 2011
