Your choices can impact so many….

This easy read was packed with emotional struggles and very timely issues. This book is about relationships, how the twist and turns of choices can affect the lives of those in these relationships and those around the people in them.

One person choices linked many, some willing participants and one unknowingly then many were impacted from the fallout . I found it interesting and compelling. I actually read it twice and am looking forward to his next book.

I gave this story 4 stars

Doing what you feel you have to until you can do better….

Ice by Will “Half & Half” Robbins was a very engaging and interesting read. Being an avid reader I wanted to open up my selections so I read this one just because I was asked to. I am glad I did. This book is filled with hard knocks, the street life, pains, hurts, wants, power and humor. I could “see” it as I read it.

Mr. Robbins did an exceptional job of telling some gritty, hard stories of people growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey in an engagingly interesting and even funny manner. These are tales of people that do what they feel they have to do until you can do better; those choosing live the drug life and of those that want power are fast hitting, dangerous, drama filled and sad but there is triumph as well.

I enjoyed this book tremendously and am waiting on his next one.

I gave this novel 4 stars when I read it the first time, 4/20/2010 and enjoyed it even more the second read.  October 23, 2011

Interestingly intriguing read

I found Pretty Monster to be an interestingly intriguing read.  It was intriguing to see this story blossom but more intriguing seeing the character Tangie unfold, grow up and choose how to live her life.  I found this to be a very good read and it left me curious and wondering how Tangie is today, what her new life was like.

M. Raye Turner penned to tale of life that took us on a journey with a little girl named Tangie Waters that was fraught with many of the woes of life that she dealt with and became what SHE choose to despite it and because of it.  Tangie was spoiled daddy’s girl and he could do little to no wrong, even when he did wrong.  Her mother was a  lady, “diva” as she was described and many of those characteristics landed in Tangie’s personality as well.   She was a surefooted person even when she didn’t realized it.  Tangie has a razor shape tongue, tumultuous ideas/thoughts and a don’t mess with me disposition.  These characteristics were developed and fostered by being raised in a somewhat reckless and lenient lifestyle that catered to people doing what they wanted, to get want they wanted.

As one progresses through Pretty Monster, there are a multitude of characters that one could latch on to and some that you root for but many that you don’t.  In the end, one can understand why she did many of the things she did and don’t necessary “see” the pretty monster.

Very intriguing and interesting story….you have family, romance, thrill, drama and suspense.

Very intriguing and interesting story….you have family, romance, thrill, drama and suspense. This book is centered around the Livingston family.  There are twin brothers and one of their sons that run the family business that was established by their father.  On top of this well established family business this family has a long, rich history that is a noted legacy for the men….fidelity and long marriages.

As you read, you are hurled into the lives of these people as individuals, couples, families and the Family while you are hanging on to every word.  The brothers are Ace and Adam and the sons that work with the family business are Malcolm and Toussaint, the offspring of Adam.  Ace is married to Diane and they have two offspring that are not involved is the family business.  Adam is married to Candace and he co-chairs the business along side his brother with his sons as integral players in the business successes. and nephews.  As the story unfolds we are wrapped up in the lives of the single brother, Toussaint, that has women falling all over him as an eligible bachelor and his brother the family man that finds himself unfulfilled and ready to stake his own spot in the business world where he is the success.  As we progress through the book we witness their trials, tribulation, choices and the results of those choices with family always looming in the forefront.

Ms. Lovely did a great job expelling a story line that is engaging, exciting and an easy read.  She tells us of the individual lives and the Family with fluidity and thoroughness.  I am eagerly awaiting the next installation, Mind Your Own Business which comes out September 2011.

I give this book 5 stars….enjoy, I surely did!   March 19, 2011
